Tortoise and hare
\nprogram, with the Hybrids understand.
\nChapter title: Peace & Violence, or War Heros
\nNotes from new caprica. The “war heros” have convinced the majority of
\nthe other models that it was an error to kill humans, and then go so
\nfar as to “occupy” new caprica in an attempt to learn to live
\ntogether. But they take a heavy handed approach ‘knowing’ that they
\nare superior and that the humans are not going to welcome them given
\ntheir inability to forgive and just start anew. But they become
\nincreasingly conflicted as the human insurgents fight them every step
\nof the way, the children who want to live in peace with the humans
\nlose votes as it becomes harder to think of ways to respond to
\nviolence other than violence — they have not had a MLK or Ghandi.
\nChapter title: Visions from the God, of Nuking New Caprica
\nThree has a vision of finding a baby at the oracle. The vision
\nconfuses her and she goes to the oracle for clarification — the
\noracles knows that Hara is alive. How? Maybe certain people and indeed
\ncertain children of the final five are sensitive to the content of
\nprevious loops, these visions they have are often attributed to God or
\nthe gods. The base star hybrids see the content of previous loops as
\nwell, and perhaps better than anyone, but are so far “gone” albeit
\nbecause of it, they are unable to communicate in terms others can
\nunderstand.
\nSo the previous loop, based on three’s vision involved her finding
\nHara on the ground, rather than Baltar. Both scenarios involved dead
\npeople laying all around. Both also involved Hara being turned over to
\nthe children of the final five. One option that was put on the table
\nwas nuking the settlement, maybe that happened in a previous loop.
\nChapter title: Leoben’s Dad
\nAnother dynamic to New Caprica was Leoben and Thrace, his being
\nadamant that he had seen visions from God that they are in love with
\none another. It might have been that part of his programming came from
\nTye’s dad. He tells Thrace that they have children, that he’s seen it,
\nbut how much has he really seen? Leoben is entirely synthetic,
\nconstructed by Tye using unused parts of himself, parts of his dad in
\nfact that had been saved in the off chance that his dad would agree to
\nresurrection. But his dad had sworn off resurrection, and stuck to it
\nas his wife, the second coming of Pythia, had requested. He loved her
\nand had a child with her. Who was this child? Tye says he himself and
\nhis wife were never human, just synthetic copies, machines, but who
\nwanted to be more and strived to be the men and women they dreamed of
\nbecoming. As machines they were cloned from their parents, but unlike
\nresurrection, had the previous memories of their parent deactivated,
\nso as to have their own unique experience. But when building their own
\nchildren, they reactivate some of those memories so that the synthetic
\nmodels can “feel” memories, a history of growing up for instance
\nwithout having had a childhood. Hence Leoben has vivid “memories” of
\nbeing with Kara.
\nBeacon contamination episode. If the 13th colony was “cylon”, they had
\nan immunity too. Was the immunity lost over time, or just couldn’t be
\npassed along to the seven models of synthetic children. Leoben, black
\nguy, Cavil, Six, three, Sharon, gay suit.
\nChapter title: Toasters, Alarm Clocks, & Microwave Ovens.
\nThe difference in how long a minute lasts on a snooze button, versus a
\nmicrowave oven, is a subtly of human experience, and one in which
\nmachines begin to recognize as soon as they begin to experience love
\nand pleasure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Loop detector.
