Stories

Intervention.

When and where the decision was made to intervene on behalf of humanity might not be as intuitive as you think. There was always concern, but the past had played out so many different ways proving that no matter how small their numbers, they always made a come back entirely on their own. It was not until the extinction of humanity was an established fact that a consensus was created for the cause of intervention. The risk of inadvertently destroying our own existence in the effort to save humans was a concern of many but the ultimate extinction of humans convinced many of the remaining holdouts. Many of our attempts to change the past created unforeseen consequences to our present and future. Our initial strategy in response to this was to try and catalog every event that could possibly change our present, which of course was insane, we see that now. But we do that in which we place our faith. This story will be interpreted by some of you as being about our faith journey, how our understanding of God changed over the millennia and led to our present interest in humanity. Others will see it more as a record of the tools we created in response to our struggle to stay alive. We’ve finally figured out a way to be free from our constant changing past.

The Harbinger of Death.

(This is the variant of Kara Thrace that arrived on dying earth with cylons in tow, who joined and better armed the rebelling cylons to destroy the13th colony. She stayed and fought them and died in the battle. Having doomed the 13th colony, and the Galactica she never returned to, the human race went extinct.

Independently of this, the final five were warned of the coming apocalypse with enough time to reinvent resurrection technology, and begin their odyssey back in time to change history, arriving just before the end of the first cylon war.

Starbuck begins working with the 13th colony to help protect them from the coming cylon attack (and the coordinated insurrection). She is introduced to the group later known as the final five — she recognizes them of course — and immediately knows (though in the wrong context) that they are cylons, and accuses them of being spies.

The outcomes of several loops: synopsis is that she has to change her own future (of the little girl) to escape the loop, changing anything else continues the loop and the harbinger of death.

Title: Little Girl Tara. First loop, She is born on the 13th colony but travels to future Caprica with her mother to study to be a pilot. Mother is trying to escape the dying world of the 13th colony.
2nd loop same but meets older version of self (dog tags) who has traveled back in time, neither recognize one another. 3rd loop same.

Title: Dog Tags. First and only loop, She fights and dies with the 13th colony. Meets but doesn’t recognize younger self.
Title: Before the Book of Pythia. 2nd loop is her only loop, she meets but doesn’t recognize her younger self. Sees dead dog tags? She goes back in time further to be Pythia, to write the history that will be followed as prophesy by a future Galactica (but is assassinated before book is written, and is mostly too crazy to write the book anyway due to the time travel sickness).

Title: The Book of Pythia. She goes back in time to be second coming of Pythia, gives her book to Magnus, and lives out her days with Tye senior, eventually giving birth to Tye Junior. Which means Tye Junior does not exist until loops after this. And that she had no knowledge of Tye Junior from previous loops. The series as we know it is the final loop.
Title: Future Tara (the disappearing Tara we know and love). She escapes the loop by going back forward in time, instead of back. She goes back to the Galactica, not realizing she has time traveled to the past and back.

Kara Thrace

Kara Thrace. The lifelines of all variants: Pythia,

Final five comic #3, Ellen tells Tye they were both born machines, he says he wants to be more, a sentiment his father had as well until his end days were he joked ? about changing his mind. In his speech about he tells Tye that he’s just like his mother, boozing unable to commit to anything. If his mother is Pythia/starbuck, and we’ve established there are at least two due to time travel, what are the different ways that multiples can be created and what are the consequences of each?

If you travel back in time… Balter in some other lifetime wrote a book called On the physical consequences of time travel: alterations to memory, body and age.
You age more rapidly than if you travel forward in time, because travel back in time takes more time than traveling forward in time, at least using the older time travel technology. With the newer time travel technology, you age about the same moving forward or back in time, as it takes approximately the same amount of time in either direction. Going back in time to a time either just before your birth or just after creates a situation where there are simultaneously two of you, one much younger or just born. This creates consequences, as any changes in the younger one’s life changes the older one’s memories, just like any new tattoos that the younger gets that the older never did will instantly appear on the older. If the younger one dies while the older is still living, the older will instantaneously disappear. This is why those who tamper with the past prefer to travel to locations further back than their original life time, such that if they spend their life there, even a very long life, they are safe from the complications of their younger version having a different history than them, as the older will likely die naturally long before complications arise from the birth of their younger version.
The “prophesy” books written by Pythia were history books telling of events she had witnessed in her younger life (as Starbuck) aboard the Galactica under President Roslyn, which included the discovery of earth (old dying earth(the living 13th colony about to be destroyed), not new dead earth, or new earth).

DEBUNKEDIn avoiding old dying earth as a consequence of following the prophecy, infant Tara is never sent to past Caparica, because old Starbuck never meets her younger self, as she did on earlier loops (whereupon she would write her history and travel to the distant Caparican past to publish it as Pythia.
Dying earth had advanced space travel capabilities, including the ability to travel to the past at the same high speed one can travel to the future. Previous generations did not have that technology — travel to the past took a very long time, aging the participant often beyond familiar recognition, if they even survived the duration of the journey.
The initial duplication of Kara Thrace occurred not from traveling back in time to her childhood, per se. She has traveled back in time before. Even once to a point significantly before she was born, so that there would be no trouble with that. Her mother was fleeing her father’s obsession with work? His time travel experiments? Figure this out later. The duplication occurred after she grew up and traveled into the relative future where her younger version had just been born. The coordination of this was quite inexplicable, prompting the rubberband snap back theory of time travel (under certain circumstances when traveling through particular locations of space the fabric will snap you back to where you once belonged, IF you have ever time traveled before. (Create another illustration of this along a different time line — Pythia and husband and childbirth)).
After discovering the dying earth and traveling to the far distant past of Caprica she is eventually killed, consistent with the comic timeline. But she has attracted the attention of Tye’s human dad who tries unsuccessfully to save her before “fleeing” via space time travel to an unknown land in the (to him) future to settle what becomes the dying earth.
This continues to be the loop for many millennia, until some one tampers with her resurrection (which has been invented, but which she has refused, having a  prejudice against the technology).  What is their future without her and no Tye and therefor no final five and no Caparica Six? The future has to involve a 2nd cylon war, which is what brought Kara to the rubberband effect in the first place, but how could there be a second cylon war if the final five were instrumental in ending the first cylon war? Unless the first cylon war never ended in these early loops, and Kara somehow independently reaches this place in the fabric of space during an extended first cylon war (in which no second war is needed to bring about the extinction of the human race). But who then resurrects her? And who places angel Pythia in Tye’s Dad’s head?the cylons never achieve human form, which is what they are after if the human race goes extinct, so maybe the first cylon war ends with large scale human experimentation, but no resurrection as humans which is what SOME of the machines want (think of Caparica series), so a faction studies history for a way to intervene and change their future.
Does Tara lead them to the discovery of the 13th tribe, and hence the “harbinger of death” as the human race is made extinct? Or do they discover the thirteenth tribe by following the signs in the history books? First explanation is better. Details of the initial extinction may include the joining forces of old school cylons with the thirteenth tribe cylons which were more advanced technologically through still purely mechanical — the old school ones inspired the 13th tribe versions to insurrection, and once the 13th tribe was extinct, came back in time to help the old school cylons extinguish the rest of the colonies. Histories can be independent if on different planets isolated from one another.
So the initial loops had Thrace attempting to change the future ( for the younger version of herself) by writing a history that would inform readers of the past how to defeat the cylons by avoiding technology (“you all burn”). But the past doesn’t listen to her.
Before traveling to the past she helps fight in the cylon war of the 13th colony, and agrees to be resurrected if killed ( a little insurance policy invented by her dad maybe, a man she never knew as a child, only that he was a jazz musician and deadbeat dad). She is killed in the 13th colonies cylon war, and resurrected by her dad. The time travel to the deep past as Pythia occurs when they realize the war is lost and the humans will be extinct. She is warned that her memories of the future will degrade as her younger self makes different decisions in response to the historical changes triggered by this tampering with time. She agrees to an “angel” implant that will help guide her despite the loss of memory about who she is, an implant that will help her write the prophesies of Pythia. It being the first of its kind, there are still kinks in the system and she ends up thinking she’s crazy, and so does everyone else in the deep past.
Her dad is able to immediately see the result in history books of Pythia’s death. Knowing she has failed sends another Pythia to the algae planet to try to change the future from that point in time (the 13th colony has just crashed landed there and she tries to convince them to give up resurrection technology. She ends up marrying Tye’s dad and having a baby named Tye, there on the algae planet. This changes the timeline of her dad to one where he is no longer looking for Pythia.

Which generation of Starbuck returns to Galactica saying she’s been to earth?not Pythia, she died by gun shot. Not 2nd resurrection Starbuck, she went to Kobold(?) or algae planet and died of old age. Must be 1st generation Starbuck post final five? She arrives on living 13th colony, cylons in tow, dad gives her the song with notes representing coordinates for a historical earth the earth of the 13 th colony only so far in the past cylons didn’t exist yet. Gives the notes to young Starbuck to induce the memory, because Starbuck has already left and he realizes that she will return to a destroyed civilization.
Or 3rd resurrection?

So a faction of advanced toasters study the past to try to save humanity (first attempt)

Hybrid aboard resurrection ship during 2nd cylon war knows the history of the future. Knows Tara Thrace will bring destruction of the race. This hybrid was with the guardians, is an evolutionary dead end, as he referees to himself.

Tye is older than his mom aboard the Galactica — which would suggest that his mother is the older version (Pythia), meaning an older Starbuck (not the toddler sent back in time to Caprica with sergeant major mom, but grown up Starbuck who has been resurrected a second time to go back in time to convince the 13th tribe soon after their exodus that they should give up resurrection technology.

If the younger mom changes things the memory of the older will get messed up — or “history” books with prophesies of the future suddenly appear after any new thing the young version does.

Some texture… Battles between machines, raiders and vipers like battles of medieval armored men. The hybrid theory of non insanity.

Outline

Outline of The History of the Future

Gius and Six viewing contemporary Earth, the book picks up where the series ends. Their immediate context, where they came from to be here viewing Earth is addressed. Proud of their collective work changing the past, but can they prevent another apocalypse?angels are servants of God and Man.

*=needs further research.

Chapter Titles & summaries of critical points to be revealed within each:

Servants of God and Man. Gius tells his story, why he is trying to change the past, what he is going to change, what he believes the effect will be. He is talking to a hybrid, because only they retain memory across changes in the timeline. * He is a cylon variant, but doesn’t reveal yet where he came from. “What is it like to live forever? Well I can’t really convey that to you can I, anymore than you can convey to a fish what riding a bicycle is like. I can tell you my opinion of it. My opinion is that the future is dry. Not just of humor, but life. Its barren. Machines lost interest in serving man. Servants of God was fine, but leave man and his obvious shortcomings in design out of it. And God condemned us for it, just like Lucifer. We ended up alone in the universe, full of our own fallen creations. “The only future worth living in necessitates changes in the past”. “An amends if you will.” Who is the narrator of this story?

Angels’ Warning, Angels’ Dream. Several generations of “angels”. Code inserted into a resurrected host, independent of the host memory and personality, meant to serve as a projection to provide guidance around historically significant decisions. Invented to help preserve outcomes on a timeline that “needs” some alterations. A way to manage the effects of tampering with the time line, such that some things change, but other things stay the same. A type of surgery on the timeline, which in its initial form presented problems in application. For instance, feedback literally took centuries, as the fixed programming could not dynamically adjust to unforeseen permutations it was creating in the timeline. Eventually real agents were sent back in time, but out of phase with the material spectrum of the collective experience such that only certain individuals could see them (*Could Baltar see Six’s angel Baltar?), like Six and Baltar and Hara. These new generation angels were living breathing beings, sent back in time with a specific mission. And they would dream at night, dreams that not only resided in their own heads of flesh and bone, but also projected to the hosts with whom they were designed to interface.  The “dying leader” also sees these projections of the opera house, because she shares blood with one of the hosts meant to see the angels — the blood transfusion is not enough to provide the dying leader with visions of the angels, but is enough to share their dreams of the opera house. *The presence of the angels when Roslyn has the visions of the opera house. The Hybrids know of a previous timeline where the dying leader learns the truth of the opera house, which means this line is relooped at a place on the timeline just after Roslyn first saw the real and present truth of the opera house. *what failure does the reloop prevent?

Olympus Destroys Galactica. *for details of the ramming. Gius is put out an airlock, Gius correctly identifies the best target for the raid on the cylon station (*before or after Olympus? Easier to explain if before).

The Second Coming of Pythia. Original Pythia is killed in an assassination attempt on Michael Tye. She came from “future” earth to warn of the apocalypse. Future earth’s history immediately reports the failure, and the second coming of Pythia is coordinated to intercede on the timeline post exodus instead of pre exodus. The secret of Saul Tye, he was not a carbon copy of Michael Tye but rather the son of Michael Tye, his mother being the second coming of Pythia. The truth is hid from him (and others) because he could cease to exist at any moment if the future changes, given that his mother is from the future (if she doesn’t travel back in time then he is never born). A special name is gi en to these types of beings, beings that exist ever so temporarily on the timeline due to an intervention from the future, which if not repeated, ceases the beings existence and all memory of it. Save, the memory of the hybrids. These mortals having no future and no past, and no life within the memories of others, still sometimes play a significant role in the history of what turns out to be the future…

The Love Experiments. Sharon, Six, and Seven all actively experimenting with love. Episodes of jealously between them as well when one or the other makes more progress than the rest. Seven has a family. Six has Baltar, they have a child who is killed. Five has Helo, they have a child (Hara) who is killed. Six fantasizes about pursuing Helo. The hybrids are aware of the love experiments and the offspring, as well as the fates of the offspring along multiple timelines. Parenthood experiments.

The Colony. The centurions reveal the hybrids they have created. The five realize that the centurions have created something qualitatively different than they have, far superior in some ways. The five create the seven, because the centurions want mortality, they have immortality already, plus the ability to see the multi-loop nature of time (the ability to retain memory of events that are overwritten by intercession of the timeline, and thus erased from the collective memory of the rest of us — when someone travels back in time and changes events which therefor changes your memories, the hybrids don’t lose memories).

The Plan 2.0 The original plan was to rescue humanity from extinction; 2.0 was Cavil’s idea to counter and undermine it. The five discovered a way to segregate certain memories from the data that is resurrected. They pursued this technology so that they could have a more mortal experience, which was found to be more fulfilling than the alternative. Cavil used the technology to erase the memories of the original plan, as well as any memories of who the five are in the seven children (Cavil, nerd, Deanna, Leoben, Sharon, six, black). *Cavil creates a virus to kill the versions who know the five.

Time Travel and The Rubber-band Effect. Deep gravity wells can cause individuals who have “crossed over” into a different timeline to be “snapped” back to the timeline from which they originated. The history of time travel. The differences between backward and forward travel in time.

Time line of Comics

Time line of comics

Kobol. 4000 years ago.  Pythia charged with heresy, seeing visions of angel six.
Human resurrection living as Gods among the superstitious, barely escape with their lives. Caprican resurrection technology is a separate lineage, occurring much later on the timeline.
Tye has a thing for Pythia, he and 13ths have resurrection technology. Cavil is a human sympathetic to the 13ths, who is killed by the humans, and offered resurrection by the 13ths.[Kobol doesn’t need Pythia story line, it’s just a place where the gods and man lived together, until man turned on the “gods”, forcing their exodus. Pythia enters story line in next loop — need to discern why angel six was programmed into Pythia to argue against resurrection technology, and why she argued for unity of the tribes against the 13th. Angel six also argues against resurrection technology in Michael and Saul Tye. The occurrence in Saul could be explained as a genetic inheritance, but Michael Tye does not see angel six until he is resurrected for the exodus from Kobol, indicating an intervention point. How many intervention points are there? ]

The Algae Planet, and the Temple of Hopes. The 13ths travel in search of an ideal planet, in their exodus from Kobol. Michael Tye is seeing angel six who is helping direct him to earth. First (Dad) Cavil and Dad Tye represent opposing sides in the debate of where to go next. Dad Cavil says lets just find the nearest place. Dad Tye says “no, we should be looking for earth”. They end up following a ship that appears out of nowhere (looks like Starbucks ship), crash landing without resurrection technology or a way off the planet, due in part to sabotage of Magnus Baltar (who shot Pythia). The planet is the Algae Planet. Tye swears off his visions of angel six as being hallucinations. Then Pythia appears just as Magnus and Tye discover one another again, she is the one from the viper they followed, she says she’s been to Earth (and reminds him she told him she’d see him on the other side). Pythia helps rebuild the ship for journey to earth with Tye, to have future child together, Saul. She sends Magnus back to Kobol with the book of Pythia (which would include the “prophesies”, or the “history of the future” she viewed prior to her arrival on Kobold, namely that a dying leader would lead the way to earth, she’d see snakes, etc). Angel six warns Tye that its not really Pythia, says she’s a rogue god (in the Kobold sense of the term, this means someone using resurrection technology? Or resurrection plus time travel?), but he doesn’t care.[Pythia, the rogue god, and starbuck, are all the same person, but at different points in time due to time travel intervention. Kobol Pythia is resurrected with angel six programming (someone from the future of cylon children has hacked her resurrection node), given the mission to argue against resurrection technology and the disunity the 13ths represent, in the first time travel attempt to save the race. This is how she knows how to reengineer the genome for biological reproduction, the cylon children of the future, CCOF,  have already figured it out. The CCOF must discover that the intervention hasn’t worked. Or did they try several simultaneous interventions, to increase their odds? This would explain multiple angel sixes with the same program goals — Pythia, Michael Tye.
Second attempt the cylon children make at time travel intervention is the Starbuck looking woman (the rogue god) who claims to be Pythia and marries Michael Tye (becomes Saul Tye’s Mom) — she knows to take the form of Pythia because the recorded history of the SECOND loop tells of Michael Tye’s infatuation with her. (First loop Pythia didn’t exist, Second loop — which is the first intervention — she does, Michael Tye becomes infatuated with her, quite accidentally, but historically recorded). What becomes of Michael Tye in the first and second loops? Need to draw a history of the first two lines, what happens — we’re presuming that the CCOF, or Six and Sharon anyway — realize haunting the universe after human extinction that love and parenthood are required, and so plan a do over, a trip back in time to secretly hack the resurrection technology to include angel six. Third loop she’s in Michael Tye’s post exodus programming but he eventually swears her off as a hallucination… For the first two interventions to be able to have angel six, the final five had to be present to build her. Maybe the result of the first loop is the realization that they must make angel six, and put her in someone who doesn’t know they have been synthesized, Pythia being their first experiment, someone who was high enough profile to have the ear of the tribal council, to advocate for the end of resurrection, unification of the tribes. Chapter title: Killing Pythia, the early angel six experiments. They kill her to resurrect her with synthetic programming, then the synthetic version is to be burned as a heretic (but is shot escaping).

Earth. 2 millennia before the fall of the 12 colonies. Cavil has daughter, Ellen, unclear on who her mom is, but her name is Ellen as well. Tye has son, Saul, mom is Pythia (the rouge god), who helped reengineer the genome for biological reproduction. Michael Tye outlawed resurrection to make everyone more “human”, Pythia  dies of old age, reportedly (by first Cavil) pleading for resurrection. Ellen comments that they were born machines, never really human. Galen and Tory and Ellen are working on reinvention of resurrection, at Cavil Cybernetics. Cavil (100 years) wants resurrection technology back, thinks biological reproduction was a mistake. Invented Cavil technologies, robot workers. Daughter Ellen is engaged to his enemy’s son, Saul Tye. Angel six haunts Saul as well, not just Michael. Angel six has “always” been against resurrection technology, since days of haunting Pythia, but is now for it (suggesting a new intervention — which loop are we on?), helps guide Ellen to reinvention of it, having seen the end of mankind. Resurrection technology, initially banned on earth is reinvented, just as Earth is destroyed by old school cylons, final five see it coming and escape, having been warned and assisted in escape technology, namely resurrection by angel six. [suggests two tries by angel six] Michael Tye dies of old age, his son Saul who is a political proponent of mortality like his father is resurrected by Ellen, against his wishes. Cavil is killed by his daughter Ellen for his assassination attempt on Saul.

While Cavil erases the final five memory 30 years before the fall of the colonies, Earth’s destruction occurred 2 thousand years ago.

Angel six is surprised when she discovers herself on the Pegasus, indicating that the timeline has changed. Or that she hadn’t seen herself before, this being the first loop to get this far. She tells Baltar that “she’s me”. Pegasus six escapes to the Galactica, potentially goes on to be Baltar’s wife… Or, how did she get caught on the Pegasus? She got caught on the Pegasus by the xo during an attack by the cylons, as a boarding party accompanied by a six was discovered. Xo surmised that she had given the cylons their coordinates. Maybe but also the possibility that she had fallen in love with admiral Kane, which wasn’t part of the plan (the Pegasus was supposed to be destroyed in harbor like the rest of the battlestars), which is supported both by the boarding party seemingly being unaware of the other six being on board (pretty risky otherwise bringing a six on the boarding party, unless trying to talk her down — it is the same six outfitwise that we see on occupied caprica jealous of the love Athena has found. maybe the boarding party six is trying to reign in a rogue sister who appears to have caught the love virus. I’ve speculated that the purpose behind angel programming is that like hybrids it is a module uneffected by the memory loss inherent in many jumps, so it can used to help navigate where time travel is involved. What if on the previous loop she didn’t get caught or wasn’t on the Pegasus because either the Pegasus is destroyed in harbor (and that six just resurrects and has a different future, or because the the boarding party incident never occurred? Being undiscovered she eventually meets the professor.

From the episode “downloaded”:
Caprica six has an angel Baltar upon rebirth after the destruction of Caprica. Angel Baltar warns of the plans to box Sharon and Six, encourages insurrection, telling Six he loves her, that love is real. This is not the first timeline that Sharon and Caprica Six are put together here, what happened on the other time lines? Was Anders killed? And maybe Helo too? So on previous timeline Sharon and Caprica Six are too out of it, they’re crazy, their experience of love and then their betrayal of that love has damaged them. They are unable to process quick enough to consider saving Anders when he is caught, which potentially ends the final five plan to infiltrate and protect the fleet (their memory erasure, as told in the comic, didn’t change their programming, Cavil didn’t know they had such a developed plan) — what role was for Anders in the plan on Caprica? Perhaps his role was after the success of the love experiment. The comic doesn’t say precisely when Saul is shot, or when Ellen is air locked. Maybe the children launched the attack while the final five weren’t around, the entry of the final five coming in loops later, after they have learned of “the plan” Cavil has, and after learning about it create their own elaborate plan to protect the humans, Cavil erases their memory in response, but doesn’t catch on that they have been planning this for awhile (100s of years after the first loop(s)), their plan is much deeper than their conscious memory, as conscious memory can not be relied on during time travel, for the reason outlined elsewhere. The parents realize the children have grown up, and want them to continue to grow and learn about love, but the fact remains that the humans need to be protected during this cylon civil war, the final five will be the fail safe. The television series is the last loop, several loops occurred prior to this, each involving the extinction of the human race; This book tells the story of those extinctions, and the future cylons haunting the universe for millennia who eventually perfect several experiments with interventions in history to save the human race. Starbuck dies in captivity on Caprica in one of the later loops, so Anders intended role was to make sure Kara survives. Kara knows where earth is, and has written about finding it as Pythia, knows the final loop with the President. Kara’s first loop is tricky business because she is the mother of Saul, as a Rogue god, and she has to be a mother before Saul’s children can be invented, so how does she know the “future history”. Her disappearance at the end line of the series indicates her younger self (who may be physically older due to years and years of time travel) has died — perhaps due to flying into the sun, the colony being crushed by the black hole, or a historic mortal event occurring simultaneously with the present future event. Remember that backward time travel produces a second you AND ties you two, in such a way that if the second you historically deviates from the course you took, for example doesn’t time travel when or to where you did, or somehow gets killed, you timeline ceases to exist and you disappear, though others can still remember you. The series would indicate that the Kara who returned from earth to lead them to earth is the time traveler, went forward in time at some point(), and maybe back again, but “younger” version did not and so deviated. Maybe there were three… Because youngest Kara is the one who is taught the coordinates to NEW earth in a song, before going forward in time with mom to Caprica just prior to cylon war, to train to be a cadet. But anything the younger is taught is immediately known to the older variant. Kara’s unseen trip to OLD earth, was backward time travel, not knowing she traveled back in time, or that the people there are cylons (they actually didn’t call themselves that) without resurrection technology, she warns that the cylon “machines” are coming. Dad may or may not recognize her, and maybe always gave the coordinates in song. Kara goes forward in time as a child, then back in time (creating duplicity) meeting herself and dad, then forward in time back to Galactica with coordinates to NEW earth ( ship having coordinates to old earth), dad knowing she will eventually remember them. In the time it takes to return to Galactica does the younger Kara to present day earth and get stranded, there being no one there. But her helmet is on suggesting she crashed and burned in combat, maybe with those ships she was seeing. How did either variant travel back in time?rubber band effect? Regression tide.
How could Saul or Saul’s dad be on earth if Kara is a baby on earth?

Sharon learns that Baltar was a traitor. Chapter title: Pegasus Six.
Original line, Baltar falls in love with Pegasus Six, who doesn’t know who he is, they have a child, but Baltar is put out an airlock. Pegasus Six at some future date programs angel six to save her lover and her child. There is no Starbuck yet. Angel six succeeds in saving Baltar but not herself or her future baby. Baltar realizes in the future what she had attempted to do, and returns the favor, creating angel Baltar, so that the real versions can go on and on loving each other with resurrection technology.

Starbuck is Saul’s mom. Possible history: first loop, no talk of earth. Starbuck has already time traveled as child, from earth, to escape apocalypse, an apocalypse without the final five? Has learned the jump coordinates as a child, taught by her dad, as a song. She experiences the rubber-band effect during space travel as an adult, ends up back on earth,  warns of the coming cylon destruction, meets herself as a child.

So this generation of earth is able to do time travel. the preceding generations on Caprica haven’t understood the time travel component of jumps. but the timeline she comes from on Earth does. They send her back again, but further this time, to Michael Tye’s generation on Kobol, but immediately see that their history books indicate she is killed for her heretical anti-technology beliefs (actually accidentally assassinated while Magnus Baltar was trying to kill Michael Tye). The history books indicate that this Michael Tye character and the assassin kill each other in a fight on the algae planet, so they send her back again but this time to that exact moment of the fight to be able to “prove” to those two that there are greater forces at work trying to change things “here and now”. She’s sent with the book of Pythia this time which spells out the future as most reliably recorded in history. Her mission is to get get Magnus to return to Kobol to preach the gospel of Pythia and thus change history, and Michael Tye to go to earth to change the future, both to insure the future does not include cylons. The book of Pythia speaks of man and gods living together on Kobol, which is a bit exaggerated as the “gods” were expelled.

So she meets Michael Tye on algae planet as a god, a reincarnated version of herself. There are some who believe that you are a “rogue god” if in addition to reincarnation, you time travel to change events, or is it only if you change events against the democratic vote of the gods? Chapter title: rogue gods.

From episodes ending season 2
Baltar and Pegasus six, her struggle with being who he wants her to be. Her suicide. She was confused by the love she felt for him, her original mission was to destroy the Pegasus. Angel six told him to get the bomb for his research, did she know that Pegasus six would use it to kill herself? And was angel six programmed by Pegasus six on an earlier loop? A loop in which Baltar

Chief punching his girl, potentially 2nd final five loop, he wants her not to love him, but that mission objective is erased minus how strong his sub conscience is. Why does he want to kill himself? The success of the final five protecting the human race (which goes extinct on earth without interbreeding with cylons) still leaves him without casy, alone.

From the road less traveled: chapter title: end of line.  hybrid history and time travel. When hybrids say “end of line” they are referring to the end of a loop. “Real”, or true history, is read not as the linear progression of events, as humans naturally experience, but rather as a series of end points of temporal loops.

From escape velocity. Gius Baltar is trying to escape his guilt of presidency, Tye his guilt for killing his own wife, Tory her guilt of killing Galen’s wife, Galen his guilt of not being a better husband to his human wife — AND his guilt of being a cylon when he wants to be a man. Gius and Tory answer their guilt with the theology that they re perfect–everything happens for a reason. Tye and Galen answer it by trying to be better men.

Baltar knows who fails the cylon detector test but isn’t telling anyone because why? That could get him thrown out the bulkhead. Basically he’s just being his selfish self, he tells on the cylons that threaten him, stays out of the conflict with the ones that don’t, and listens to angel six when he’s not sure. The end line six (future six who intervenes in the timeline to complete the parenthood experiment) trusts that Baltar will be himself, and hence be predictable, and is mailable –given his how captive he is to his lust and fear — so bets that placing the angel programing in him is the bet guaranteeing a couple critical changes in the timeline.

Based on Tie me up Tie me Down, the hand of god, colonial day.
Sharon on new caprica appears to be pregnant ( morning sickness) soon after she ditches the cylons. Occupied caprica six is really upset with Sharon for flipping sides or is it that she isn’t experiencing love (angel six is outside the timeline) — occupied six only knows lost love, which makes her both very sad and angry. Her appearance in the cic, she is angry and vengeful and only  gets further rejected. Baltar has as this point lived longer the previous loop where exit inaction occurred. He still gets thrown out the bulkhead further down the line, for not having worked on the cylon detection machine, or for it being fallible in regard to the final five? Baltar tests and passes Ellen, but only indicates knowing that Sharon is — Ellen and the rest of the final five are different, aren’t detectable by the cylon detector. angel six has indicated to him not to tell when he does detect who the cylons are, so the fleet finding out about the ones he detects either had bad consequences on a previous loop, or she is trying not to disturb the time line, except in places where she thinks she knows the result.

Chapter ?, The History of the Future.  About the invention of backward time travel: 13th tribe, and anyone else?, started trying to avoid the consequences of their nature, going further and further back in time. Pythia was one of those, not sure which tribe, started writing “the history of the future”, “all this has happened before and will happen again”. This implies multiple attempts at changing the line, and the “prophesy” of the future leader and her visions (the snakes) were written in retrospect.

Chapter title: loops of Gius. Baltar’s correct guess about the trillium refinery storage location was part of the natural time line, angel six just encourages his intuition.

His time line still being discerned, did he survive the caprica blast? If so, then no angel six afterward on initial loop, where the Olympic cruiser rams the galactica and the human race goes extinct minus the Pegasus. Initial loop she protects him during the blast, and he sees her dead body. The next loop she has scanned him for resurrection, using the box she carried which wasn’t a bomb and she allows him to die in the blast, at the last moment turning him toward the blast. He then has no memory of what happened next, resurrection wise.

Need to discern when he is air locked in the future…

Title of the book: The History of the Future, There was more than one plan.

Based on the kobold episodes
Starbuck and Pythia are one. She went back in time with the arrow and wrote the prophesy about the president leading the way to earth, but she didn’t leave until after the 13th colony settled. She traveled back in time twice? Roslyn’s hallucinations were a matter of public record, and the historical record concluded with the extinction of the human race. Pythia travels back in time to write the pathway for future generations to follow, but when does she leave the future?

Chapter title: Remembering Kobol
Angel six knows Baltar should leave the galactica, she knows the coup is going to occur.
The base star at kobol may have known that they were coming? Jump coordinates were not part of recorded history, though certain battles were. Sometimes the cylons could be waiting for them, given the hybrid knowledge of the future, other times the temporal length of stay of the Galactica was so short that the recording of that precise moment in space and time had a probability of error. You can get the place right, but not the time right, or the time right, but not the place. The episode called something minutes or seconds, the hybrids knew the locations just not when, or there is a drift that occurs of precisely that man minutes.
Angel six knows that a new race is to come and says Baltar’s destiny is to be the guardian of that race. Baltar recognizes the opera house on kobol, angel six says “of course you do”. Is this because a memory implant tells him to recognize it, or because he has traveled back in time from a previous loop to be the guardian? If so, what happened in the first loop? It can be inferred that the baby didn’t make it. If he went back in time without resurrection he would have aged, unless the angel programming is able to project the age of its current host, so even if it was programmed in the host’s future, it could look like the host in the past, to be a more efficient guide in the past. So at some point he’s been resurrected, unless he travelled back in time to Caprica from the end line, and lost his memories in transit having altered his past timeline — in such case he’s the same man, just with an implant that was placed in the future before sending him back

About time travel again… Going back in time is more complicated, takes longer than going forward because of the complications in duplicating fabric of the universe, there are two of you when you go back in time, the one you meet when you back is younger than you EVEN if you have the most advanced form of instantaneous backward time travel, and anything that happens to them, any injuries or changes in their timeline relative to yours effects you — unless you go back in time before they were born and never share overlapping time, then there are really two of you?
So Kara traveled more than once back in time. One time was as Pythia to tell the tribe how to get to earth, recounting everything from the historical record of the future, knowing that something had happened since then that would prevent it unless the tribe had directions this time around. Given that her younger self had not yet been born, she could remember everything clearly, including how to build time machines… And so goes forward in time to where? What if Kara was born on the 13th colony, her dad taught her the song notes that the final five would use, knowing the plan, or maybe being a very young girl there, someone else made the decision to send her back in time, a trip that took time, and went back before she was born. Or rather that was a trip forward in time, 2k years, completed very fast, she gets off the ship still a kid and is raised by her hateful mother who never mentions time travel, or the loss of all her friends and loved ones. She grows up and becomes a pilot aboard galactica who in her adventures travels in time to Earth — but exists in two places in time ( actually a lot more than that, but just two are relevant here), the past and present. She travels to the past, prior to the extinction of the 13th tribe, so she gets the location right but not the time, bumping into a younger version of herself, and meets her dad who sends her back to the future with the coordinates for Earth, which takes longer because its older technology, having left before her younger self did. and dad is confused because the end of days hasn’t approached yet, he thinks the future fleet can come to the past earth to hide. While older Kara is traveling back to Galactica, forward in time, the 13th colony is destroyed, unbeknownst to her on several levels, as she didn’t know it was her dad or that it was the past. But her visit to earth forewarned the final five, and her dad after her older self left, taught the music notes to the younger Kara, of the earths location even further back in time… Understanding that the end was coming on the current timeline, he did this before she left with her mom, which created the memories in the older Kara following the older Kara’s departure from past earth, she hadn’t had these memories before.

Chapter ?, Kara Finds Earth, part one. There are phenomenon in the universe that pull you back to where you came from, kind of like gravity pulls you back when you jump toward the sky, even with technologically greater leaps toward the sky, you are drawn back. Eventually technology overcomes this backward pull, but as it often turns out, in this new place of our escape, we find a new pull that keeps us again where we are, despite our discomfort and desire to leap up above it all once again.

We find with time travel that if you go forward in time, there is a pull on the fabric of the universe, relative to you that can pull you back in time despite the technology that placed you in the new fabric — the old fabric is still tied to you. These phenomena are discovered to occur within deep gravity wells, as if the fall takes you back in time to your original fabric. Kara experiences this following the supernova, being in such close proximity, then followed up by a flight into stormy planet’s gravity well, she begins to travel back in time, not to a younger self — she’s still aging forward — just traveling back in time. She sees raiders attacking and feels the hit, these are the same raiders attacking the 13th colony, in a different time and place. When she sees them and follows them the second time, the old fabric pulls her back even further, past the attack on the 13th colony, back prior to her younger self leaving.

When she is sent back to the future, by the time she arrives the 13 colony has been destroyed, unbeknownst to her, and she has the coordinates to return, location wise, built into her ship. The younger version of herself goes through the same gravity well but doesn’t go back in time, as far, because the rubber band has lost some of its tension from the first loop. So this younger Kara, arrives at earth 100s of years after the extinction, but is hit by fire power from cylon raiders who are on their way all the way back to take part in the first extinction — so she crash lands and is killed, having reached earth but not the same earth her older self visited thousands of years ago

Kara was familiar with the symbol for the supernova because as a kid it was all around her, being a religious symbol used on the 13th colony,
earth.

What if the 13th tribe’s exodus was more contemporary than commonly understood, but that they sought refuge in the past from the future consequences of their present reality, first on kobol, then on earth.

Relativistic travel. Going back in time to where we were traveling back in time, is the same as going forward in time to catch up to the point you travelled back in time.

Kara, at the final destination earth (traveling back in time before her birth), having recently experienced the gravitational well of the black hole where the colony was hiding, rubber band backs to the future where she dies because her younger self has been killed at the same time in close proximity.

Based on 1of4 final five comic DEAD END
Pythia and tye have a thing for each other, Pythia is seeing visions of the future, tye is resurrecting within 13th colony well before cylons are invented on caprica. Fits hypothesis that 13th colony traveled back in time to kobol, and eventually were killed off by the humans there for being atheists — or rather gods themselves. A few then traveled to earth.

First Galactica loop there is no earth, and the human race goes extinct. Human resurrection and the old school cylons were just invented. The first cylon war ends it all. Human resurrections are the only ones to survive, they miss humanity and travel back in time, once time travel is invented. They land on kobol, and start a society, gods and man, living together. But that society turns on them, as told in the comic minus Pythia, they are attacked and must run for their lives, as one of the resurrection ships is destroyed. Tye has fallen in love for a human girl named Pythia who dies. He resurrects her without her consent which doesn’t go well, as she believes she has been kept from her heavenly destiny, and she kills herself. So Tye begins work on recreating her with additional programming to make her think she is “human”.
/END DEAD END

Chapter title: Leoben. Created using memories of Michael Tye, which is why he has “foreseen” being married and having kids with Sarbuck. Wh o he actually sees the 2nd coming of Pythia, married to his great grandfather.

Chapter title: what happens the final five reach the algae planet and convince the centurions to stop fighting? How to get from there to their memory loss. Are they warned to keep their identities secret because of the historical record of mistrust of the cylons? Even the term cylon and toaster don’t really refer to them on their timeline — they were “just” resurrectionists, the whole thirteenth colony, technically not related to the cylons centurions, the final five. They have the history of the colonies given that they are from the future, so they know we’re to place themselves in the fleet to make sure certain things do and don’t happen. Tye saves admiral Adama from the suicide bomb blast. Galen loves Sharon which turns her into a fallible assassin. Anders saves Tara from the farm. Tory ??? Works closely with the president. Ellen ??? Was in a bar speaking poorly of her husband.

Taken from the episodes about insurrection.
Chapter title: executing the general. As Guis is sleeping with a younger six, he “sees” the admiral being shot. Something about this experience with the younger six triggers his memory of an earlier loop, one in which the admiral is executed, and once again the human race is wiped out as a result. Perhaps the cylon base ship ends it for them as Roslyn orders the firing to begin. Maybe a game changer in the delay of execution was the ability to unjam the transmission Roslyn was trying to make to the fleet. Geta had to deal with that which delayed his execution order. Perhaps Gius having had the premonition of the admirals execution spoke to the rebel cylons rather passionately to secure help in breaking the jamming of the transmission. So Leoben then is ordered to work on it which which results in success. “How do you know they are going to execute him?” “I’ve seen it!”

The Oldest Hybrid

The oldest hybrid, the first (built by caprican cylons experimenting on humans, having created a cylon/human hybrid that can see past and future simultaneously) tries to warn humans that Tara Thrace is the harbinger of death. Still the harbinger, given that this hybrid meets her AFTER Thrace’s solo trip to past earth.

Angel Baltar appears to Baltar to give direction about what to do with Tory. Perhaps because in an earlier loop Tory does not handle the guilt of killing Galen’s wife in the same way as she does once she gets caught up with Baltar. She certainly escapes her guilt (escape velocity) by overcompensating with her belief in perfection. Or angel Baltar wants human Baltar to be influenced by Tory’s belief in perfection, perhaps as needed to reach a mindfulness as yet undisclosed sooner.

The comics have Baltar’s lineage aligned with the anti-resurrectionists. Magnus Baltar kills Pythia while trying to kill Tye’s dad. He also brings down the resurrection ship traveling to earth, but has a transformation and agrees to travel back to Kobol on 2nd coming Pythias behalf to preach the gospel of Pythia. 2nd Pythia knows exactly where to appear to prevent the two (Tye’s dad and Magnus) from killing each other (was it Magnus who dies? This would not interfere with Tye’s dad moving forward in time. If Magnus lived and Tye’s dad died in the fight, Magnus may well have lived as long as Tye’s dad would have and been (or one of his offspring) one of the original final five — perhaps agreeing to having his time line erased for the future of mankind, volunteering to allow 2nd Pythia to forever alter is history by intervening in the fight and sending him back to Kobol to preach the history/prophecies of Pythia, where he would have offspring who would be farmers and preach against resurrection. One of the conditions of “losing his present earthy life” or order to live a life without resurrection in the past, is to save his memories digitally, e.g. become a synthetic “angel Baltar”, who can be used in future missions wherever needed to direct the actions of six or his descendants.

Does anything change when the “first” server is destroyed?

Post new Caprica Notes

Post new caprica notes

Temple of Hopes, Temple of Five.  Algae planet Mandela in the temple. If the temple was made on the way to earth, how come the the final five are enshrined there? The final five are from earth.  It was called the the temple of hopes, not the temple of five, when the 13th tribe built it on their way to earth. The final five stopped by on their way back to caprica from earth, it’s where they met the old school cylons who recognized them as machines, where work in a sense started on the seven children. The old school cylons worshipped the final five and enshrined them renaming the temple the temple of five. Pythia referenced the temple as the the temple of five, so she must have had access to that timeline. Did she learn it in history books or witness it?seems she had to have learned it in history books on earth.

Future wars about freedom of information made available through time travel.

Notes from rapture and taking a break… Angel six tells Baltar what he already knows, that Diana is not the chosen one, he is. Does he know this from a previous loop, one in which he wasn’t so confident? Or was he just consistent in his narcism across loops?

Angel six does not try to prepare or assist Baltar as he is being prepped for torture — does she know he will survive, and that the unadulterated experience will be, as he says himself, liberating? If so, then this instances are both from older timelines.

Deleted scenes show caprica six attempting to defend Baltar aboard Galactica — in jail (having arrived with Sharon and Hera) she refuses to provide info guarantee of safety for Baltar. The caprica aboard razor killed herself with nuke. Who is this caprica, the original? The accuser caprica was air locked by cavil.

Need to answer why only the good guys are time traveling, why only angels and not devils?

More on Kara… Older version ends up Pythia, writing memoirs that change with the experience of the younger Kara. Are there three? One younger than Kara, who Kara sees when she travels to earth. This young Kara leaves earth with mom traveling back in time to caprica to raise Starbuck ( independent of Kara bringing the the cylons to earth — becoming harbinger of death). Starbuck goes back in time via storm planet finding earth but does realize this is past earth not present, unwittingly meets self getting ready to leave with mother. Now there re two. Warns everyone of the coming cylons, travels forward in time to Galactica, 2 months have past not the six hours she experienced it. Has seen earth, leads the team there, in present time, but discovers dead self and dead planet — they have not gone back in time as far as she was a little while ago.

Maybe the farm experiments were specifically run on her because the bad guys know she’s  harbinger, they’re trying to do there own experiments on her.

Is one of the hybrids an earlier version of Kara? As they fly into the sun Kara disappears because the hybrid is younger.       Pythia, Kara, hybrid, little girl.

Another theory, based on maelstrom.
Tara has very vivid visions/memories?? as she flies into the storm the first time, chasing after a heavy raider. Are the memories occurring simultaneously as younger variant changes the future variant’s history?

Notes from crossroads 1:
Angel Baltar (in six’s head–the six that kills boomer and helps Sharon escape with hara) appears to six as she is being interrogated by Tye concerning how the cylons are knowing how to follow them. She gives an answer that is clearly truthful, and as Tye becomes aggressive, angel Baltar gives her strategies to use that only a future Baltar would know after seeing the trial or reading history books, that would occur or be written later ( about how Helen died).
How is Roslyn tied to the opera house with Sharon and six, is it the blood she was given from the hybrid of Sharon and Helo?if so, how is six seeing the visions?are all cylons seeing it? Or is this dream only being seen by those who are connected more specifically to hara? Six had talked early on about the child being hers and Baltar’s, maybe the time line was changed but the memory of the alternate future lingers for six, knowledge of her child being chased by human and cylon, finding her way into her arms at last. Or maybe it’s simply her memory of the future (history of the future) she brings back with her. Maybe Sharon AND Six both bring the history of the future with them when they travel to the present past, and as events change the history of the future their memories can persist only as dreams. Roslyn suspects “blood memory” playing a role in her connection to six and Sharon, and attributes the accuracy of the vision to the ancient Gods –she never realizes how correct she was on both matters; the descendants of the final five in the history of the future being ancient gods.

Notes from crossroads II:
Sharon, Roslyn, six and hara all have the same premonition of Baltar and six receiving hara. In the vision Baltar and six look up at the final five, in a scene that suggests they were under orders from the final five. Perhaps have a chapter solely devoted to those orders and the context. Mitochondrial eve (hara) is required for the repopulation of the new species of hybrids, the union of cylon and human, bringing an end to the conflict as those separated from birth can come home — separated by their synthetic nature, but otherwise experiencing human experience minus mortality and parenthood, such experiences remove the jealousy that had driven them to fight the humans unto extinction. So hara is part of the end game. Did she fail to survive in previous time lines, such that the final five gave specific orders to Baltar and six to go back for a redo that only they can do, and which will change THE HISTORY OF THE FUTURE in such a way that those giving the order will not all survive, but the mission will be accomplished. If the orders came from the colony, perhaps during a time when the colony represented the entirety of civilization, cylons existed elsewhere in the universe, wondering the universe in different bands, or sometimes alone, experiencing mortality by choice traveling so far from resurrection ships, though sometimes by accident, dying without resurrection, sometimes with others, sometimes alone. Then there was the civilization, the colony, where everyone live together in a very civilized way, but everyone resurrected and hence where more like gods than man, and lacked the humanity that living with mortality brings. Eventually the sentiment of the outlanders (those without resurrection) wins out ?? Or does it continue to be a fringe activity started by those who had loved humans prior to the human extinction. As time travel advances, there are efforts to return to the past to change the history of the future to make it more like the idea they dream of.  In the first efforts for change, the final five program themselves to think they are human, something not to unusual, lots of practice with this programming, enabling them to experience mortality, the loss of friends and family, the imperative to seek ideals in ways that you only muster when you think you only have one life to live and love. So they are experienced with this game, the difference this time is that they study the history of the final human war very closely to find critical areas where their presence could make a difference. Sanders assignment is to keep Kara thrace alive on the farm, so he is positioned on caprica to survive the halocost and occupation, to change the history of one Kara thrace who has a destiny, such that she fulfills it. Cornel tie job is to befriend and become first officer on the battle star Galactica, being one of the two surviving battle stars, the one that happens to find itself protecting the last survivors of the human race. The presidents aid’s mission is to ?? Chiefs mission is to?? And Ellen’s mission is to help reunite them when the time is right for their final mission, or what?? Each of the final five could have a chapter devoted to their mission objectives and how those played out in various prior loops until the final.
Need a way to reset the mission when/if it fails, as computers they understand that they can keep trying infinitely, as they have time travel. What they don’t consider until all other options are wiped out, literally, is that six and Baltar hold the key.

The Oldest History of the Future

The oldest history of the future
Cylons having ruled the universe alone for millennia following the successful  genocide and extinction of humans have increasing become dissatisfied with their solitary existence. Some have not, but most have. That old idea that there was a flaw in the programming of those who felt an attachment to the human species has been the subject of reexamination. Several interesting facts about the initial cylon future:
They have no pets, they never figured out how to make synthetic life forms other than humans, those who worked on it were discouraged given the cylon slave history still bothering most. The final five were the creators, maybe the technical knowhow to create life from machines was forbidden to the children. Actual living creatures probably would have taken to cylons just like they did to their human counter parts, but cylons never invested in the required activities — the basics like feeding never occurred to most of them, and the need for companionship just wasn’t there. The need for companionship was seen as a human virus to the cylons, which drove those effected into longer periods of projected environments rather than invention or cross species companionship. Very much like humans, the loss or lack of this fundamental component of humanity in ones life often led to an obsession with power, even over ones own kind. Cylons eventually developed caste systems, and subjected the lower castes to a consumer lifestyle that fed the upper castes but left the lower castes wanting more. When the atomic psychological structure of dreams was discovered to draw on the external subatomic structure of one’s environment, someone envisioned the ability to tag subatomic environmental particles in such a way that when/if they were pulled into someone’s dream, they would activate a process that froze the dream while a commercial was played within the dreamer’s mind. Quite ingenious actually, but very disturbing nonetheless even to cylons, who after all enjoy their dreams, and prefer them uninterrupted.
